He Loves Me to Nashville and Back | Monday Musings

What a lot of you see on my blog is the big things that happen in my life and business. What most of you don't get to see is most of the behind-the-scenes events that have to take place in order for the big stuff to run smoothly. A couple weeks ago I got the incredible opportunity to travel to Nashville for a gorgeous wedding...but what I didn't talk about was the logistics of actually getting there and back!

For this particular wedding Nathan and I chose to drive for a number of reasons, not the least of which being that I will only fly with my camera equipment when forced to do so. When I first booked the wedding we talked about making it into a long weekend and an extra little vacation to wrap up the year. However, things changed when Nathan got a new job just six weeks before the wedding was scheduled...

Welcome, Off-Season! | Monday Musings

The off-season is finally here! My year went a little bit later than normal, wrapping up with an amazing wedding in Nashville that I can't believe I got to photograph! What a dream come true! While I do have another wedding in less than a month (back at the Washington, D.C., LDS Temple no less!) I think I can officially say that my off-season has begun.

I'm completely ok with that, since I am not good friends with the cold anyways! Besides incredible amounts of rest that will happen between now and the kick-off to the 2017 season, I will finally be able to sit down and knock out my list of goals between now and then. During busy season I am in maintenance mode, but in off-season I am in improvement mode all the way...

Every year at Thanksgiving, our family tradition is to go around the table and name one of the things we are most thankful for in the past year. It's such a great way to refocus on the reason we are all together (besides food, of course!) and stay updated on what's going on in our lives. With a rapidly growing family that was big to begin with, I love hearing about the best things that happened in the last year and sharing stories of my own.

This year it took me a little while to figure out what to say. This has been a good year in many ways, but it has also been an incredibly difficult year. With a sad anniversary looming and the feeling of loss in our hearts, holidays (while beautiful) remind me of what we came so close to having but never got. In all honesty, this next month will be difficult for both of us.

And yet there is indeed so much to be thankful for in the midst of some sadness. This year, I realized I am thankful to be a part of something bigger than myself that came into my life at the perfect time. I am thankful to serve and be focused on something other than what's going on in my own little life and world. This year, I was thankful for...
