Year after year, this is one of my favorite blog posts to write! If you’ve been following me for any length of time, by now you know that behind-the-scenes at a wedding doesn’t always look like the pretty pictures that come as a result! And being a wedding photographer means a lot more than simply clicking the shutter - it involves arranging details, hanging dresses, calming nerves, having fun with my second shooter/husband, and sometimes just getting out on the dance floor when the Wobble comes on.
This also happens to be one of the times I can post some embarrassing pictures of Nathan without objection, and this year resulted in some of my favorite yet! Sometimes I remember why he’s in a ridiculous pose (trying to make me laugh and calm me down, for example), and sometimes I have no clue (why is he crouching behind a pole?!).
Regardless of the reason, I guarantee a few laughs and a whole lot of silliness behind the scenes of our 2019 wedding season…

I finally understood that some of his quirks aren’t just Nathan-isms, and many of them are shared by other people for the same core reason. It gave me more compassion towards him and a deeper understanding of what makes him tick and what makes him shut down.
For those who are curious, I am a 3 (The Achiever) and Nathan is a 5 (The Investigator). Here’s a little bit more about my personality, as the test I took explains…
Why I'm Afraid to Set Goals
Goal-setting is something talked about on a frequent basis in the world of entrepreneurs and small business ownership. We are supposed to set SMART goals. We are supposed to be held accountable by ourselves and someone else. We are always reaching for something, the next thing, building on what we have to become a better version of ourselves in the future.
To be honest, I’m not great at goal-setting.
This is probably a huge surprise to most people who know me, because I am always striving, always reaching, and always trying to achieve. But if I’m being honest, I’m afraid of setting goals, and especially afraid of speaking them out loud…
