The Honest Truth about...Being an Ambivert | Monday Musings

I grew up surrounded by 3 other siblings, which did not strike me as unusual until I got a little older and realized most people only have 1 or 2 brothers and sisters! In our group of four, I was almost always the most outgoing, and I learned quickly how to make friends when we moved around every few years. Living overseas taught me even more how to relate with other people whose background was completely different.

As an adult I drew back a little, which most of us tend to do over time. The days feel longer and my tiredness is more acute now than when I was a child. While I still love to be around big groups and thrive on meeting new people, I am not quite as fearless and bold as when I was younger. Between Nathan and me, however, I will always be the most outgoing person in our relationship, and without my forwardness, we would spend much more time at home and much less time with other people!

The Honest Truth, though, is that in recent years...

When two people are already married, you would assume that the magic of the wedding is long gone. Michael and Sarah had a quick ceremony a few months ago because of his upcoming deployment, but still planned a day to gather their friends and family together to celebrate. And oh what a day it was! Despite the fact that they were already husband and wife, Michael had the best reaction I have ever witnessed when he saw his bride walk down the aisle. He cried, he covered his eyes...he couldn't believe she was really his, even if she had been for months.

The whole wedding was a tribute to Michael and Sarah's relationship. They met in the military but bonded over their love of Fall Out 4, a video game Sarah paid homage to with incredibly intricate decorations. Their invitation suite and place settings featured old-school records, the bride's dress was both beautiful and non-traditional, and the whole wedding was so unique to who they are as a couple.

Michael and Sarah are heading off to Japan...

In the past 18 months alone I've been to Africa twice, San Francisco, Arizona, New York (twice), Nashville, Lake Tahoe, Dallas, Philadelphia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and possibly more places that I'm forgetting right now. This year I've got trips to Slovenia, Reading (Pennsylvania), Maggie Valley (North Carolina), and more planned. Some of these are for weddings or business travel, but many are not.

Of course, most of you know that I am also not independently wealthy, despite the massive amount of traveling I'm able to do. So how is it that I'm able to go where my heart desires whenever I want? Here is The Honest Truth...
