Cedar Room Charleston Wedding | Charleston Wedding Photographer | Heath + Kate

The word that most comes to mind when I see Heath and Kate together is joyful. I remembered from their engagement session that they couldn't stop laughing together, and their wedding day only heightened their happiness. Full of energy and excitement at what was to come, the two were all nerves before their first look because they just couldn't WAIT to see each other! The reaction was beautiful, and each interaction from then on was a reminder of the love they have built through their relationship and the beautiful marriage that is sure to follow.

As far as location, Heath and Kate could NOT have picked a more gorgeous place than his home, quaint Charleston, to get married. From a first look near the Charleston Battery right by the water to a gorgeous navy and gold reception at The Cedar Room in the heart of downtown, every detail screamed elegant, Southern charm. Wine colored anemones and lush cascading greenery made me fall in love with Kate's bouquet, and classy tuxes paired perfectly with the towering trees in the background of all their pictures...

Willow's Surgery + Recovery | Monday Musings

Willow's Surgery + Recovery | Monday Musings

A few weeks ago, my 8-month old baby underwent major surgery. We knew from the moment we met her it would happen one day, but it was still a scary and difficult time in our lives. I shared some about what this looked like on social media but I wanted to wait until we were through the worst parts to write about it on the blog. Here we are, with life mostly back to normal, and there are so many things to share about what she went through and what I've learned because of it.

There's always a fine line between sharing Willow's story and not oversharing what she's been through, and in this case I am simply withholding what, exactly, her surgery was. I am happy to talk about the details in person because it's not a secret, but it's part of her story...and I never want to share more than she would want me to later in life.

That said, I can share that her surgery had to do with her mouth and, therefore, was mostly a challenge because it disrupted her feeding. But let me start on day one...

Downtown Yorktown Engagement Session | Yorktown Wedding Photographer | Jamie + Sydney

I met Sydney when I was about to graduate from college and she had just begun attending Virginia Tech. She, like all of us, wasn't sure what she would do in her education or her life. Fast forward to today, and not only is Sydney on the verge of earning her PhD., she is also engaged to the love of her life and ready to get married just a few weeks after she officially becomes a DOCTOR! It's amazing to me how time flies, and she is just another reminder of how far we have come since college.

Since they drove all the way from Blacksburg for their engagement session, we only had ONE date that worked...and that morning, when it started raining, we weren't sure what to do! Thankfully, between a cute bubble umbrella and a change in the weather as the evening wore on, we were able to have the most carefree, relaxed time together I could have imagined. These two couldn't stop hugging, kissing, and smiling as they explored historic Yorktown in front of my camera, and it truly was the perfect afternoon....
