The word that most comes to mind when I see Heath and Kate together is joyful. I remembered from their engagement session that they couldn't stop laughing together, and their wedding day only heightened their happiness. Full of energy and excitement at what was to come, the two were all nerves before their first look because they just couldn't WAIT to see each other! The reaction was beautiful, and each interaction from then on was a reminder of the love they have built through their relationship and the beautiful marriage that is sure to follow.
As far as location, Heath and Kate could NOT have picked a more gorgeous place than his home, quaint Charleston, to get married. From a first look near the Charleston Battery right by the water to a gorgeous navy and gold reception at The Cedar Room in the heart of downtown, every detail screamed elegant, Southern charm. Wine colored anemones and lush cascading greenery made me fall in love with Kate's bouquet, and classy tuxes paired perfectly with the towering trees in the background of all their pictures.
One of my favorite details of the day was Kate's dressES. She always dreamed of wearing her mother's wedding gown, but a 27-year-old all-lace dress was simply too fragile for anything but the ceremony. Because of this, Kate chose a gorgeous fluffy tulle dress for her first look and reception but changed into her mother's dress right before the ceremony as a sweet surprise to Heath and a nod to her family tradition. She looked equally beautiful in each, and we even snuck up to the roof at The Cedar Room for a few sunset portraits in her heirloom gown.
Heath and Kate, I will never forget your day - and not just because we got to explore Charleston and take pretty pictures! What I will never forget is how much FUN everyone had. You are so clearly loved by friends and family, your reception was a BLAST until the very last minute, and you couldn't wipe the smiles off your faces. Take this joy, your commitment to the Lord, and your love for each other, and use it to make your marriage strong. I'm so happy for you two - the best is yet to come!

Before we knew it Kate was leaving to see Heath...and her reaction to their first look was one of my favorites!
Oh and we can't forget about...the confetti cannon! We celebrated all. day. LONG!
Note the dress change for the ceremony...I don't know which one I loved more.
Can we talk about how gorgeous the reception was? The Cedar Room, combined with the talent of YOJ Events, was absolutely perfect. And before it all began, we made our way to the roof for a few gorgeous sunset portraits.
And just like that, it was time for them to leave, surrounded by family, friends, and lots of sparklers. Congratulations, Heath and Kate!
