First Landing Beach Engagement Session | Virginia Beach Wedding Photographer | Trey + Ashley

It's rare to find a couple who is completely comfortable in front of the camera. Almost none of us - myself included - are used to having professional pictures taken or seeing a photographer in front of us as we interact with our loved ones. For Trey and Ashley, it didn't matter that they aren't 'pros' in front of the camera because what they are best at is being comfortable with each other - and in their engagement session at First Landing State Park, it showed through clearly.

On their first date, which was Valentine's Day, Trey told me that he went in for the big kiss only to MISS because Ashley thought he was hugging her! The miscommunication quickly ended, though, and the evening ended with a sweet kiss and Ashley jumping up and down in her kitchen, excited about the man who had just dropped her off. Both of them knew that this relationship was a little different, and it was all confirmed later when he dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry him, his grandmother's diamond sparkling in his hand...

4 Things I've Been Loving Lately | Monday Musings

Sometimes I'll be chatting with a friend about a particular question or problem I'm having, and they will come up with the perfect answer based on their experiences. By the time I start using what they suggest or following their advice, I often can't believe it took me so long to do!

In light of that, every once in awhile I love sharing about my recently discovered and newly favorite things - whether it's an activity, a product, or especially a food that I just can't get enough of! Doug and Jen first met completely by chance when a friend invited her to a small group that Doug led at his house. Their first conversation happened in his kitchen but it wouldn't be their last, and over time their friendship grew and with it their love and respect for each other. Now they are on the path towards being married in a few short months, facing the future hand-in-hand.

After crazy rain, hailstorms, and two reschedules, I met Doug and Jen on the perfect day at sunset on Outlook Beach in Fort Monroe. With expansive trees that filter the light beautifully, a secluded beach where the waves lap the shore, and amazing architecture in the background, it was the perfect place to explore on a cool spring evening. Doug and Jen laughed together the entire time, save for a few sweet moments where he held her or they kissed - neither of which they minded at all...
