In case you missed it last week, I told the story of how I came to photograph not just one but TWO Indian weddings in one weekend this summer! On the second day in a row I woke up at 4am after what felt like a long blink of sleep the night before and headed out to a new day with Photographick Studios.
Arvind and Nithya love nothing more than each other, and they fell in love through the years traveling together. He was nervous before he saw his bride, and she had jitters until he held her close. Where Arvind is planned and ordered, Nithya is spontaneous and adventure-loving, and together the two make a perfect pair.
Their wedding day was incredible from start to finish at West Belmont Place in Washington, DC. From incredible purple and gold details to a first look in morning light all the way through their ceremony packed with Hindu wedding traditions, the two held hands and held each other close. My favorite moments were the looks they stole when it seemed like nobody else was watching...the love between them was so obvious and overflowing.
After this wedding and the exhaustion of two 18-20 hour days in a row, I fell into bed exhausted but oh so thankful. Being able to be part of their incredibly special day was both inspiring and absolutely heartwarming. I have officially fallen in love with Indian weddings, and I can't wait for the next one to come.
Before the ceremony, in the glowy morning light, Arvind and Nithya shared a sweet first look and tried to hold back the tears.
After the first look, Nithya participated in the Hindu wedding tradition called Gowri Puja, where incense is burned, prayers are said, and the bride takes a moment before the wedding to reflect on her life ahead.
After the ceremony we went to the gorgeous Stone Tower Winery for portraits...and oh what a beautiful place it was!
Their reception was a beautiful compilation of royal purple and gold details and their shared love for travel...just wait until you see their adorable travel themed wedding cake!
