Every job has a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make the more public part flow smoothly. Wedding photographers take beautiful pictures but on the wedding day we become so much more. Looking back through the past year is a hilarious reminder of all the different roles I take on a wedding day - and all the fun I've had to boot!
I've been so fortunate for Nathan to accompany me at most of my weddings this year, and I think at some point we started a friendly competition to take the most ridiculous pictures of each other possible. Combine that with the wall of exhaustion that comes rushing in after hours of constant thinking, moving, talking, and shooting, and the end results have me cracking up as I finish out the year.
Have fun - and a good laugh on us - looking through our official 2016 behind the scenes pictures!
This is called my intimidation technique...it's totally working.
"So...can you help me out of the water right here?"
One of Nathan's primary jobs - dress fluffer and placer. Sometimes I wonder if the staff thinks he's trying to run out with a wedding dress...
Why yes, yes, I have a plan...
Sometimes the pictures are flattering...EXCEPT FOR MY FACE.
Word up. Totally not my car...but I wish it was!
This next photo series is called "How many things can Nathan carry at the same time?"
When it's windy and your hair goes completely flat. Good gracious I need a curling iron...or a hat.
Nathan has mad tie skills. It has come in handy on multiple occasions.
It's my personal goal to teach someone the Wobble at every wedding I attend. 2016 was a smashing success.
Oh heeeeeyyyy Christy!
That moment when you know a wedding guest...and just happen to match. High fives all around.
How far can I lean without falling into the water?
I totally look just as good as the bride. Totally.
"Hey Nathan, I've got to test my light so...just stand in the middle of the street. Don't worry, it's safe."
"So you're going to have to make a speech at this wedding..." (I actually have no clue what he was saying but that's the only thing I could think of to make me look THAT intense!)
"Hey you! Look over there! No, that way. TO MY RIGHT!"
Yes, it's a brilliant idea to get as close to sparklers with your camera as humanly possible.
When Nathan tests light for me. Never a dull moment.
This is called "how many layers can I wear on a wedding day?"
Sometimes he takes pictures and I take pictures of him taking pictures.
...and yes. This is a real moment. And a genuine smile. Because I absolutely love what I do and I can't wait until next year!
