The other day I realized that even though I write a lot about what's going on with Nathan and me, it's been a long time since I've given an official update. A lot has happened, some of which my faithful blog readers already know about, but some of it has happened behind the scenes in the last few months. So here's what's going on in our lives!
Adoption - by now you probably know what happened when our adoption fell through in a tragic way last month. We are officially back on the waiting list, and are again waiting for a call. This is a little scary to me and I'm honestly not sure how I will react when we do hear about another child, but I know we are both ready to be parents.
Africa - after our last trip to Africa, I fell in love with being overseas all over again. If everything falls into place we will be returning to West Africa this July. I am hopeful that I will get to go not just this summer but in the future as well.
French - speaking of being overseas, another thing I had forgotten about is my love for languages! I have been bilingual since an extremely young age and in college I minored in Spanish and took classes in French, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese. After visiting Africa I was inspired again and I have jumped headfirst into learning French. I have no idea where it will take me, but so far I'm having fun!
Lilo - our little cockapoo is still doing quite well. She got extremely sick over the holidays and took a long time to bounce back, but she is finally completely better. In more fun news we realized a couple months ago that she was tricking us both by finishing her bowl of food so quickly that we would refill it, thinking she had not been fed yet. After we noticed a visibly thicker little puppy we realized her tricks and put her in 'Lilo bootcamp.' Basically this involved a lot of walking and a normal amount of food. She's back to being healthy again :)
Wedding Season - I kicked off wedding season with a gorgeous Woman's Club of Portsmouth wedding a couple weeks ago. I have a little break until April, and then we are back into full wedding mode! The break has been nice but I am itching to get back into a busier rhythm. I think I got to fully rest during the off-season, so now I am refreshed and ready to go. This year I have weddings all over Hampton Roads, in Richmond, and one this fall in Philadelphia!
