The Lie I Told Myself | Monday Musings

The Lie I Told Myself | Monday Musings

A few months ago our church began to look ahead towards Easter and the celebration that was forthcoming. There was a Good Friday service (something I don't remember ever going to!) and the pastor wanted to create a special, meaningful experience. In March we picked up a small burlap bag full of a few Bible verses and a blank card. On the card we were to write a lie we told ourselves, or one we believed that someone else told us.

I thought about this for awhile, because we are surrounded by lies every day - that we are not _______ enough, that we need _______ to look successful, or a myriad of other things that distract us from the truth about who we are and who God is. While I could have written down dozens of things, I simply chose one. The lie I wrote down was: I have to spend more time on myself in order to be happy.

My Trip to Slovenia | Personal

My Trip to Slovenia | Personal

When I left for Slovenia I never imagined I would leave with a 4-week old baby back at home. The last month has been a difficult, surprising, and beautiful time. When Willow came home I had to make a lot of decisions about what I would keep and give up this summer – with constant travel booked, I knew I couldn’t make it all happen. I decided to forego every trip except this one with The Good Story for a lot of reasons, but leaving her at home is one of the more difficult things I have done.

I traveled to Slovenia through Venice, Italy, to photograph the Reach Global European Division Conference. Reach Global is a missions organization that has workers all around the world. Every two years they hold a conference to encourage, equip, and refresh these people who selflessly give all of themselves to serve hundreds upon thousands of people. To say it was an honor to in turn serve these missionaries is an understatement – I am truly in awe that I was able to participate in such an amazing endeavor.

The first few days of the conference were extremely difficult...

What I'm Learning about Community | Monday Musings

What I'm Learning about Community | Monday Musings

A little while ago I wrote about joining a new church and how it has forced me to the fullest of my extrovert tendencies so Nathan and I can make friends and get invested in our church home. We have officially been attending Peninsula Community Chapel for over 7 months now, and in that time I have learned more than I could ever have imagined. My biggest lessons are coming in the form of a community that was established before we joined but one that has welcomed us in with open arms.

Nathan and I both did not realize what we were missing until we found it...
