I'll be honest - I really don't listen to a lot of music. I prefer the sound of silence, Netflix in the background while I edit, or podcasts during my workouts. Every once in awhile, though, I'll turn to Spotify or my music library on a long run or a drive. With that in mind, I have a confession to make - one I have not really talked about until now.
I love Taylor Swift.
There, I said it. I have denied it for such a long time. I have pretended to be cool when Shake it Off comes on at weddings when inside I just want to dance like a crazy person. I didn't get publicly excited when she released her 1989 album (and I have not told a soul that I'm dying to know when the next one will drop). I have never been to a concert or called myself a Swiftie...but in my heart I truly am.
I followed Taylor from the very beginning, when she released her very first album, and I bought it. Shortly after that came another country record, which I also own. But then she started to go pop, and I wasn't exactly sure how I felt about it. I loved country Taylor, but I found her new music incredibly catchy. As much as I tried to deny it, I would dance a little in the car every time 22 came on...only when I was by myself, of course.
But the time has come to admit that I have loved Taylor Swift from the beginning until now, and her music seems to have transformed the way I have. In high school I was much more a country girl, but today I love blasting pop music in the house and pretending like I can dance well to it. Taylor may have changed and lost some fans along the way, but I have been a forever fanatic of her music, and now I'm making it public - even if I was a little embarrassed to do so before now.
I love Taylor Swift, and (now) I'm not afraid to say it ;)
