It's probably because I grew up overseas, but I've always had a deep appreciation for culture that is different from mine. I dream of photographing an Indian wedding, and I love it when couples put their own unique twist on their special day, making it their own. I was thrilled, then, when Rachel asked me to photograph their wedding because I knew it would be different than any I've shot before - and not only different, but beautiful!
I plan to write a future blog on what it looks like to photograph a Mormon wedding, and you'll see some of those differences and similarities here. I waited outside with friends and family for Christian and Rachel during their sealing, but when they exited it was all such fun! Seeing their joy and excitement at exiting the temple together for the first time as husband and wife filled my heart with happiness.
Christian and Rachel met their freshman year of college, though it took them awhile to realize they were meant to be together forever. Once Christian proposed in January, though, the two were as inseparable as they could be while living away from each other. Finally, on a beautiful August day, they were able to pledge their lives and their love to each other. The next day we hurried to Richmond to celebrate with all their friends and family, and I saw the love that so many people have for this special couple.
Christian and Rachel, I am honored to have been at your sealing, and again at your reception. You two love each other deeply, and you are so obviously loved by so many others. Hold on to the support of your friends and family as you begin this journey together. I'm so glad I get to be a part of all of it!
Ceremony: Washington, D.C., LDS Temple | Reception: Confederate Hills Center | Dress: Gateway Bridal | Groom's Attire: Formed Fit | Florals: Coleman Brothers Flowers | Cake: The Mixing Bowl | Bride's Ring: Sierra West Jewelers
Because when you get a custom Formed Fit suit for your wedding with the date on it...you have to show it off.
I am obsessed with Rachel's dress! The top is amazing...just wait until you see it.
And with that, the temple ceremony was over, but the celebration was just beginning. The next day, more of Christian and Rachel's friends and family gathered at the Confederate Hills Center in Richmond, Virginia, for part two of this amazing wedding!
First things first...this was my dream, as I got to spend even more time with Christian, Rachel, and the whole bridal party!
I haven't seen a rose gold wedding ring in awhile...I'm hoping this trend comes back!
The wedding cake was beautiful, and don't you just love the groom's cake?!
They exited to bubbles as they prepared to spend forever together...
Congratulations and much love to you, Christian and Rachel!
