The 3 1/2 Month Willow Update

We met Willow exactly 3 months ago today, and in such a short time our lives have been changed forever. We are so in love with this little girl who eats, poops, smiles, and forces us to prioritize her and our family. Looking back, it's hard to believe how much she has grown in such a short time, so I thought I'd share a little update on how she is doing and what's new with our family!

The 3 1/2 Month Willow Update

Willow was born weighing 5lb 14oz, and though I don't know her exact weight (I will find out today!) she has at least doubled her size since then. When we first brought her home she barely fit into newborn sizes but now she's firmly in the 3-month range, and I packed away her itty-bitty doll clothes about 2 weeks ago. It's hard to believe how much she's grown, especially when she still seems so small!

As far as milestones, I feel like there are SO many in the first few months! She started rolling over at around 10 weeks and though it scared her the first few times, she now has fun with it. Her first smile came at week 5 (when she looked at me - I melted!) and when she is well fed and well rested, she is one of the happiest babies I have seen. She responds well to smiles, even from strangers, and is a delight to be around.

In addition to smiling, she is chatty and often tries to respond when we talk to her. She is incredibly social and her least favorite thing in the world is being put to bed when there are new people or places around. She just wants to be a part of the action, and I can't say I blame her because I am the exact same way! Every doctor's visit has been positive and encouraging so far. She is on the small side still but growing at a good, steady pace, so we don't mind having a petite little baby. She does have a few rolls at least, which is of course highly important ;)

Legally she is not yet 'ours,' although there is no risk of her not ending up with us. The state simply requires a minimum number of what are called "post-placement visits" so the adoption agency can make sure all is going smoothly with the transition. So far everything is fine, and we are excited for the day we can officially give her our last name! Until then, as I have mentioned, we can't share pictures of her sweet little face, but this has allowed me to be so present with her and not worry about taking pictures all the time. I can't say I'm upset about it at all :)

I'm sure by the time I hit publish there will be new things to share at the rate Willow is growing, so I can't wait to share more in the future. For today we are so grateful for the sweetest little girl in the world who has made us fall madly in love with her in these last 3 months. What a beautiful time it has been!
