A wedding day hurricane is not something I would wish on anyone, but if there was a bride who could handle the bad weather it was Kayla. We talked a few days before her wedding and she calmly told me that their backup plan (get married and party anyway!) would be intimate and meaningful just the same. When Hurricane Matthew blew back out to sea we knew the wedding was on in full force, but watching her maintain joy and excitement in a difficult situation is just a small testament of the person she is. And with Josh as her encourager, biggest supporter, and best friend, these two could take on anything with each other by their sides.
Kayla was the epitome of a bride creating a beautiful wedding day that also completely fit her and Josh's personalities. Seeing each other before the wedding for a first look was a decision Kayla made when she realized that her sweet, introverted husband-to-be would love the chance to have a moment of calm before the nerves set in. Her selflessness was evident the moment she made that decision, and it continued on from there.
On top of that, the wedding itself was beautiful and absolutely fit their style! There was gold everywhere - from the gold-foil invitations to the adorable gold glitter reception centerpieces - with accents of teal bridesmaids dresses and TOMS shoes, strung together by a soft white in between. Even in the rain, the Italian Garden at Maymont was gorgeous, and friends and family were more than happy to endure some bad weather to be by their side.
Josh and Kayla - words cannot express how glad I am that you asked me to capture your special day! Your thoughtfulness (umm...GLUTEN FREE PIE FOR US?!) was overwhelming and your excitement made the day a blast from beginning to end. Keep enjoying each other and all the cats that will come in and out of your house throughout your marriage ;)

Because her grandma couldn't make it, Kayla FaceTimed with her to show her behind the scenes views and the pearls that had made it for the wedding day.
After she got ready we headed over to Maymont for the first look.
After this sweet moment, Josh and Kayla said their I do's in the Italian Garden among umbrellas and the people who love them most.
Josh and Kayla's wedding reception at Havana 59 was all gold, glitter, and full of Yays! You'll see what I mean ;)
They even had a temporary tattoo bar...all the fun and none of the pain!
Not only did they have adorable wedding pies, the one pictured was gluten free! Needless to say, we enjoyed actually eating dessert!
Ahh congratulations Kayla and Josh!
