I don’t remember when we started talking about it, but a few months ago my friend Chelsea and I decided that we wanted to put together our own styled shoot. It’s pretty commonplace to ask a wedding planner to help out with the details – and for good reason! Neither of us is great at the planning part of a shoot…we just get inspired!
We wanted an elegant, bohemian feel to a modern downtown Norfolk wedding. With the most gorgeous jeweled blush dress from Ava Clara bridal, we knew it would turn out perfectly. Our model Lauren and her husband were amazing to work with. Not only is she naturally gorgeous, her makeup (and hair!) was exquisite thanks to Katelyn Brenstuhl.
The final piece of the puzzle that brought it all together was the amazingly unique bouquet that The Main Event by Emily put together. With feathers and an edgy style, it perfectly rounded out the look. We started on the top of a parking garage with the best light, and ended at the gorgeous Half Moone in Norfolk.
My final and most important words are these – this started not with a desire just to create something pretty, but it sprang out of wanting to collaborate with a fellow wedding photographer and one of my best friends. We live in the area and could consider each other competition, but the friendship we have formed is so much stronger. My favorite part of the whole styled shoot was not what I did, but who I did it with. Inspiring, ethereal, and elegant, everything about this wedding inspiration was perfection.
