First Landing State Park Engagement | Virginia Beach Engagement Photographer | Kyle + Emily

Kyle and Emily have such a wonderful story. A little less than a year ago they were just friends...they had started talking and DEFINITELY were interested in each other, but it wasn't until New Years that Kyle finally asked her to be his girlfriend. A few months after that, he got down on one knee...and the rest is (almost) history!

These two met me on a gorgeous summer-like day in December at First Landing State Park, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite locations in Virginia Beach. They are getting married on January 2 (in just a few days!) and couldn't stop talking about the wedding the whole time we were together. As excited as they have been about the engagement, they just can't wait to be married...

Downtown Norfolk Engagement Session | Norfolk Engagement Photographer | Clifton + Kiara

I had the absolute pleasure of getting to know Kiara at our very first DIY Bride workshop just a few months ago. She came ready to get some ideas about her big day – she hadn’t set a date yet, but she was engaged and knew that the day would soon be coming. I was struck by her gentle enthusiasm and her shy smile, and I knew that this would not be the end of our friendship!

Thankfully I was right, and just a few months later I met her and Clifton on Freemason Street in downtown Norfolk for their engagement session, because they had officially set their wedding date for next September! Meeting Kiara’s other half completed the puzzle for me – where Kiara is quiet and reserved, Clifton is excited and enthusiastic. He knew just how to make her laugh, and from the moment we began I knew he was thrilled not only to take their engagement pictures, but to finally be married to the love of his life.

Best of 2015: Engagement + Couples | Business

This year was wonderful for so many reasons. As I reflect back on all that happened both personally and professionally, I can't help but get excited about the year ahead. What I love most about being a photographer is the richness it adds to my life - getting to meet so many people who never would have otherwise been in my life is a joy and an honor. This year I got to travel everywhere from Washington, DC, and Philadelphia to all over my own backyard in Hampton Roads.

Below are some of my favorites this year, from engagement sessions to anniversary sessions where I got to spend time with couples celebrating love that started not too long ago and love that has lasted for decades. To each couple who made their way into my life this year: thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
