Date Night Ideas in Hampton + Newport News | Business

To be honest, winter is my least favorite season. I love that it is punctuated by Christmas, New Years, and my birthday, because even though the days are so much shorter the months seem so much longer. I cannot tolerate the cold very well (knock on wood that I never move farther north than Virginia!) and I love being outside - two things which do not work in my favor during the winter!

That said, winter is also the perfect time to slow down and focus on your family - especially your significant other or spouse - and spend time with them. Now that I have lived in Hampton Roads for 6 years (time flies!) I've grown to know and love the area, and I've found so many things to do on a date night. I often think how lucky of a girl I am because I can truly write an entire blog post on how I got engaged. Though the actual proposal has gotten more elaborate and the expectations higher over the last few years, this wasn't the norm even 5 years ago when I got engaged. It definitely was not a typical thing to hire a photographer either, and I'm so thankful Nathan thought outside the box on this one.

I did know that Nathan was going to propose to me sometime during the summer of 2010. As I talked about in last week's blog we had discussed marriage and decided to move forward. What I didn't know was the date of the proposal or how it would all happen. He would often tease me during the summer because I hated not knowing.
