Tupelo Honey Bridal Brunch | Virginia Beach Wedding Photographer

It’s always fun to work on something creative other than weddings or family pictures, and it’s always an honor to partner with Tidewater and Tulle for a project! This fun bridal brunch styled shoot is for the Love It Up Town Center event happening this August. The purpose is to show brides how they can use vendors ONLY from Town Center in Virginia Beach to plan their wedding, from catering to day-after plans and more. A wonderful group of people came together to model for us, and since it involved free food they were more than enthusiastic about it ;)

I had never been to Tupelo Honey in Virginia Beach before, so I was blown away at the quality of food and the friendliness of the staff. Everything looked amazing and tasted even better. Our 4-year-old model wasn’t as excited about some of their fancy Southern food, so the manager quickly provided an amazing plate of pancakes for them. Just wait until you see his face :)

Features + Embarrassment: The Tidewater and Tulle Journal | Business

A few weeks ago I shared on social media that I had my second ever print feature (click here to see my first one) in the inaugural edition of the Tidewater and Tulle Journal. It was a hugely exciting day for me (and this amazing wedding blog!) and I was so proud to shout it from the rooftops. The reality, however, is a little different, so while I want you to share in the excitement of this moment, I also want to peel back the layers for a more behind-the-scenes look at what actually happens to get to a wedding feature.

I submit nearly every single wedding I photograph - some to national publications, some to local, and some to both...and honestly, the success is varied. I wrote about how often the features depend more on seasons and trends than the beauty of a wedding or its photography, and so it's somewhat rare to get featured on my first submission. For this particular wedding, I just knew I could find somewhere HUGE for it, so I submitted with great confidence and hope to a national wedding blog...

Spring 2017 Features Update! | Business

Spring 2017 Features Update! | Business

The last few months have been a flurry of weddings, portrait sessions, mini session fundraisers, and life in between all of it! In the midst of the winter and spring seasons I have been excited to see 2016 weddings start to be featured on all kinds of wedding blogs, which is always incredibly exciting.

I wrote about why I strive to have every wedding featured here, so in light of that I thought I'd share some of my recent blog features. Each one of these brides put so much time, energy, and thought into their weddings, so I'm thrilled that they were recognized on a bigger level than even just receiving their images - which is not a bad prize in itself ;) Be sure to head over to the links to see the full feature and check out any inspiration you might find on the corresponding wedding blog...
