After about two frames I had to wipe the tears from my eyes. My baby sister, the one who I constantly have to remind myself is no longer just 8 years old, was getting married in a month. When she first put on her dress (and we all cried then!), we knew she had to wear it more than just on the wedding day. Despite the threat of thunderstorms and some weekend mishaps, we spent the morning just a few weeks ago at Christopher Newport University, capturing her beauty and the anticipation of what was coming soon.

Megan is beautiful, both inside and out. She is generous and caring. She is extremely kind and gracious towards those around her. I have watched her walk through the difficulties of high school, college, and graduation with integrity and joy, and I have seen her relationship with the Lord grow deeper as a result. It wasn't hard to capture her beauty, and it was easy to make her smile as she thought about her groom and the upcoming wedding.

Rob and Lauren's wedding day was years in the making, with a relationship that begin as 'just friends' and slowly continued to grow until the day he finally asked her to be his future bride. She said yes and they began to plan a winter wedding (I was a January bride, too!) followed by a warm Jamaican getaway.

What they didn't plan was an unfortunate accident a few weeks before their special day that left Lauren with a broken ankle and several changes in store. Shoes changed from Badgley Mischkas to sparkly Kate Spades. Bridesmaids spent hours bedazzling the boot she would wear for the reception. Thankfully, though, two things would stay the same: Lauren would be able to walk down the aisle, and at the end Rob would be waiting for her. With those details firmly in place, she met the day with a smile and didn't let her circumstances take away from the most special day of her life...

The One Thing I Won't Do at a Wedding | Business

Wedding photographers take on so many different roles at a wedding. Beforehand I create timelines, connect couples with their dream vendors, and talk brides through the whole process. At the wedding I pin boutonnieres, bustle dresses, calm nerves (for brides, family members, and the bridal party!), photograph each event with the wedding album in mind, make changes at the last minute, build friendships...the list goes on.

I have always said to brides, families, and vendors that I will do anything for them on a wedding day (even if there's a hurricane!), and this is fully true. However, after 4 years, in the business, I have realized there is one thing I refuse to do at weddings...
