I hope this blog post is helpful to anyone looking to take family pictures, anniversary portraits, or 'just because' pictures! I will clarify that these are MY top ten places (so far), and I know there are a whole lot more out there that are beautiful! I'll list a few more at the bottom that I know of, but these are definitely my favorite.

Sometimes the biggest hurdle when booking a session is deciding WHERE to take your pictures! It's hard to decide what places are the best for your family, while still being great for lighting and photography. At the same time, you don't want to just go to all the same places you've been to before.

I'm sure I'll update and expand this list as I go, but for now I'm limiting it to the ten best places I've found for pictures (in no particular order) - and examples from each! I honestly can't remember how I first met Holly from Just Dandy Events, but I am so glad I did! We have been able to get coffee together and just get to know each other, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for her to have some professional headshots taken!

Most of the time, headshots are a little more stiff and formal - but not with Holly. Her laughter is absolutely infectious, and her smile is gorgeous. We had so much fun walking around the little neighborhoods of East Beach in Norfolk (can you tell I love this place?) and getting to know each other a little better.

Holly is an amazing wedding coordinator with a business growing right here in Hampton Roads. I love supporting local vendors, and Holly is definitely a gem! If you're thinking about hiring a day-of coordinator, or someone to help you plan your whole wedding from beginning to end, she's your girl.

You know a couple is extra special when they agree to meet you at 6am just for the good light! Taalib and Ellica are a couple I've come to know over the last few months, and I am so grateful for it. When we finally met in person a few months ago in a small coffee shop outside of Washington, DC, I could see in a few short minutes how much they care about each other.

And then on the small, grassy beach of Norfolk during their engagement session, their love truly shined through. Taalib is absolutely crazy about Ellica, and she can't help but smile, laugh, and enjoy being in love. From the tender way he looked at her to her contagious laughter at his jokes, these two were a treasure. And this all at sunrise!

I'm so thankful that I've gotten to meet these two, and that they were good enough sports to get up early for a gorgeous engagement session. I am so excited about their October wedding, and can't wait to see how their relationship has grown by then.
