Yorktown Freight Shed Vow Renewal

Yorktown Freight Shed Vow Renewal

Erik and Norma have been married for 8 years, but their love is stronger now than ever, and after many delays they decided to throw the party of a lifetime and renew their wedding vows in front of friends and family on a beautiful spring day at Yorktown Beach. Both of them have been through a lot in their lives, and for the last decade they have been through all the difficulties side-by-side and hand-in-hand. With their children by their side, they affirmed the hard times while acknowledging how beautiful their relationship has grown as a result.

The beauty of their love was matched by the beautiful details that accompanied their celebration. Beautifully Divine Events coordinated the whole affair, from gorgeous flower arrangements to a classy setup at the Yorktown Freight Shed and everything in between. The result was a day filled with both meaning and beauty, one that welcomed guests from both near and far as they reflected on Erik and Norma’s marriage, with many happy years ahead.

Being a wedding photographer was not something I grew up even knowing I wanted to do. It wasn’t until I met my brother’s wedding photographer, who has five kids and a thriving business, that I made up my mind to pursue this as a job. At the time I thought that maybe it would grow. Maybe it would become a part time thing that I could justify doing while caring for kids. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

Yet here I am, almost 6 years later, a wedding photographer for the best people I can imagine. It is an honor to be the person who captures the most special day in their lives. It’s amazing when couples ask their friends and family to put down their phones and be present in the moment, because they trust me to capture everything important. It’s a gift that I can give not just the couples, but their families, children, and grandchildren. What an honor. It is never lost on me.

There’s something so refreshing and wonderful about a long, meaningful wedding ceremony. So much of the time (with my own included!) they are short, sweet, and to the point. But when the couple and their guests have time to reflect on the words spoken, when they can think about the covenant being promised, when they can take communion together…it’s a beautiful thing. Kate’s pastor from childhood was the one who married them at the sweet little Grace Episcopal Church in downtown Yorktown, and their marriage quickly became the most important part of the day.

The whole wedding took place on one little street in Yorktown, hopping from a quaint little bed and breakfast to the Yorktown Freight Shed for a gorgeous fall-themed ceremony. Not only did I love the bright pops of color against classic blue tablecloths, I adored the hot chocolate bar and the s’mores favors that Grant and Kate thoughtfully gave to their guests, many who had traveled from all over the country for such a special occasion…
