Two Rivers Country Club Wedding | Josh + Lauren

Two Rivers Country Club Wedding | Josh + Lauren

We heard their story over and over, told in so many different ways, each a reminder of how amazing it really is that Josh and Lauren met each other. She lived in Hampton Roads and decided to take a job at Water Country USA, while he lived in the UK…and decided to visit a little town called Williamsburg for a summer at a water-themed amusement park. He couldn’t have predicted that his supervisor would, 5 years later, become his wife.

They have traveled the world together, spanning oceans and continents, but both said in their impromptu speeches that each location felt like home because they were with each other. Their wedding was a beautiful blend of customs from their background and the Jewish wedding traditions that made this day unlike any other. From signing a ketubah to adorning her parents with flower crowns at the reception, each event was filled with joy and a lot of VERY excited people.

Set right on the James River outside of Williamsburg, weddings at Two Rivers Country Club are always stunning. Lauren chose the perfect rose gold details (rings and bridesmaid dresses and table numbers), and her cascading white lily bouquet was gorgeous. It amazed me that about half of the wedding guests came all the way from England to be at their special day, and most of the other half has traveled there to meet Josh! The dedication from the couple to their family and friends, and vise versa, was evident in every moment, and Lauren’s joy was all over her face from start to finish…

Best of Ring Shots 2017 | Business

Every year I try to challenge myself in at least one area, knowing that if I am not actively trying to get better it will never happen. This was the year of the ring shot, and I tried my best both to become more creative (even at weddings with limited time) and more consistent, finding a style that I love.

While this is an area I always want to work to improve, I am proud of my work as I look back on the last year. There were times when I had ZERO time to showcase the ring well, yet in the back of my head I knew I would be disappointed if I didn't give it my all. Ring shots are NOT the most important images of the day, but wedding rings represent such an important covenant I think it's incredibly important to have at least a few stunning images of this symbol.

So here, in all their sparkly glory, are the rings that made 2017 so great, whether during engagement sessions or weddings. Get ready for some major bling!

Williamsburg Winery Wedding | Williamsburg Wedding Photographer | Rick + Lexi

Rick and Lexi were supposed to get married all the way in Key West, Florida...and then along came Hurricane Irma. As anyone knows who is reading this, the city was damaged beyond immediate repair, leaving families devastated in the wake. Upset as she was about their wedding plans changing, Lexi kept calm and re-planned her wedding in a manner of days, realizing how much worse the damage could have been if our city had been hit by such a great natural disaster.

Though it was planned last minute, this wedding was beautiful down to the very last detail, thanks to the amazing professionals who made it all happen. Burgundy dahlias contrasted with white roses in the bouquet and centerpieces. The courtyard of the Williamsburg Winery was quickly set up for the ceremony. The dress had already arrived and a tiny naked cake was the perfect addition to their intimate dinner reception.

There was a festival happening simultaneously at the winery and when we went outside, Rick and Lexi realized the band playing was one of their closest friends! We took the bridal party down and reverse wedding crashed the party...it was absolutely hilarious! The band dedicated a special song to the newlyweds, they danced in front of hundreds of guests when so many of their friends and family couldn't make it, and the whole celebration was the cherry on top of what turned out to be a perfect day...
