When I look through these pictures - and all of the families and couples who I had the privilege to photograph throughout the year - I can’t help but be filled with thankfulness. I would count many of these among my friends, and in fact some were friends first before they ever became clients! This year I saw babies born, families move across the country, and new life announced for the first time. I got to meet people who I never would have otherwise spoken to, and reconnect with others from throughout the past 9 years in Hampton Roads.
What a privilege it is to capture the joy of a family as they grow or a couple as they look towards beginning a new life together after waiting for so long. What an honor to take pictures of past brides and grooms as they progress from the newlywed phase to being more established as a couple…

Cape Henry Lighthouse Engagement Session | Tim + Naomi
Tim and Naomi met at a wedding about three years ago, and after their first date they never looked back. They have already traveled the world together, from Dubai to Wisconsin and everywhere in between, but Virginia Beach is where their love grew, and where they realized they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Over Thanksgiving they visited her family, he proposed, and of course she said yes.
Their excitement was so obvious from the first moment I met them. Naomi had reserved the Cape Henry Lighthouse, which is newly renovated, and we had the place all to ourselves! It was a fun challenge to shoot in a tiny space surrounded by windows, and I love that their engagement pictures are truly unique. Afterwards we caught the Spanish moss and golden light at First Landing. The weather was perfect and it was an unforgettable day…
