Historic St. Luke's Micro Wedding | Smithfield Wedding | Tom + Missy

Historic St. Luke's Micro Wedding | Smithfield Wedding | Tom + Missy

Tom and Missy, like so many couples, were planning a big wedding with all of their family and friends this fall…and then 2020 happened, and everything had to change. Although Sunday wasn’t quite the day they envisioned, it was still perfect in every way, from the intimate guest list to the beautiful weather to the smiles that these two couldn’t wipe off their faces if they tried.

There’s something both simple and beautiful about an elopement, and this small wedding at Historic St. Luke’s in the heart of Smithfield captured the best parts of a pared-down day. The details were still stunning, the family and friends who came were very near and dear to Tom and Missy, and at the end of it all these two were MARRIED - which is the best part of the celebration!

None of us can wait to get back to life and weddings as normal, but until then, days like these are a reminder that even 2020 is filled with small silver linings. Congratulations, Tom and Missy!

Intimate Wedding at Historic St. Luke's in Smithfield | Kyle + Camille

Intimate Wedding at Historic St. Luke's in Smithfield | Kyle + Camille

From the very beginning of their relationship, Kyle and Camille decided to take things slowly. They were friends before they started dating. They chose not to rush into marriage even though that meant being long-distance for awhile. Every step of the way involved careful thought and planning, but after several years together they realized they never wanted to be apart. Around Thanksgiving Kyle brought Camille to the Cape Henry lighthouse to ask her to be his wife, and before they knew it their wedding day had arrived.

Rather than planning the biggest wedding possible, Kyle and Camille wanted an intimate party with a long, meaningful ceremony and only a handful of people in attendance. These are the people who have supported them thus far, and promised last Saturday to continue walking alongside them in their marriage journey…

Smithfield Center Crimson Fall Wedding | Smithfield Wedding Photographer | Carson + Grace

Where do I even begin? I have known Carson and Grace both for years, before they were ever a couple. I was there to photograph their proposal when he got down on one knee at sunset at the Norfolk waterfront and she said yes. I was privileged to capture their engagement session and her stunning bridal portraits...but all this paled to the honor of being the one to capture their wedding day. Being with them was like being with old friends, and watching their love grow throughout the years has been a beautiful thing to witness.

On the morning of their wedding, Grace was reminiscing about the first few years of their relationship, which started as a friendship. But both of them knew they would be married when she was just 15 years old - and as friends turned into more than that, it became more obvious by the day that they would be together forever. Almost every single person who talked during the reception got teary-eyed talking about Carson and Grace and their integrity, faithfulness, and love. It was an amazing testament to the kind of people they are, and the marriage they will have...
