After a very long engagement, I couldn't believe it when our wedding day finally arrived. I could talk in detail about every decision I made and everything I chose to do and not do, but when it boiled down to it I know I made the wedding our own. I chose things that we wanted, even if it wasn't the most popular thing at the time (we got married in January, for example!) and I loved every detail.
Although we did not choose to have first look (which were not even popular at the time!), Nathan and I did have breakfast together the morning of our wedding. I'll never forget just looking at him and thinking, "He's going to be my husband in just a few short hours!" It was so special to me, and definitely one of the highlights of the day.
When it came time for the ceremony, Nathan played guitar and sang our song (I'll Be by the Goo Goo Dolls) as I walked down the aisle. I held it together until I looked up and saw my husband-to-be crying so many happy tears. We both cried the rest of the ceremony, and our dear friend Darrell who officiated even stopped in the middle for a tissue break :)
A lot of brides say they cannot remember their ceremony, but I remember making a conscious effort to just breathe slowly and take it all in. I remember so many moments that I would have otherwise forgotten, from the special verses Darrell read (Deuteronomy 30:29-30) to the way he thanked our parents on our behalf for loving us and raising us our whole lives.
Our reception was fun, though it's hard to know you have friends and family who travel from a long ways away only to not get a chance to talk with them afterwards! When it came time for us to leave my mom pulled us both aside and prayed for our marriage. Then we were on our way to our future together.
There's a lot more I could say about what happened on that beautiful day, but instead I'll let the pictures by Little Tree Studios do all the talking :)
Up next week: the first few months of our new life together!

I highly recommend that you and your dad have a first look :)
If I tear up at a wedding, it's probably during the father/daughter dance, and this is why...
