Suffolk Family Photographer | David, Bethany + Henry

Watching friends grow up, get married, and/or have kids is one of the coolest and strangest things of adulthood. One of the first times I met Bethany she talked and her desire to have kids - but it was difficult to figure out the timing with David being on deployment for so long! He finally came back home and sure enough, they welcomed sweet little Henry into the world just a few months ago.

I could tell after only a few moments with David and Bethany that their world is brighter, more joyful, and more complete now that Henry has come. They could not stop smiling - at him and at each other - as they played with him and made his little face burst into a little grin. The beautiful thing about their family is that as much as these two love their newest addition, it is so evident that their marriage has continued to flourish not only despite, but because of, having a third member of their family...

I cannot believe that it's been nearly a year since the first day I met this family and their newest little one. When Dianne asked about having four family sessions in one year, I was so excited for the chance to build a relationship with this family beyond spending a few hours with them one time. It has been a joy and privilege to see them so many times, and it's incredible to watch Ethan and Oliver grow so much in a year.

Dianne always puts a creative spin on their sessions, and for this last time together she brought milk and donuts to celebrate Oliver's first birthday. After time spent playing and walking (a hard job for a one-year-old!) the boys were excited to dig into the treats - and they made for the most adorable pictures yet!

I always get excited when I receive an email from someone who I've never met before - it's such an honor to be considered as the photographer for any wedding or family session, especially when I get the chance to create a personal connection with someone new. Marietta contacted me about scheduling a session with her and her boys, and when the day finally arrived, it could not have been more perfect.

From the laughter to the joking to the sincerity in their interactions, it is obvious that the Klausmeiers truly enjoy being around each other. Even if the boys pretended they didn't love the pictures, they were more than happy to be themselves and stay in the moment. They were goofy, fun, and hilarious, but certainly never boring.

I'm so excited for this family as they embark on the next chapter! Two are going off to college this fall, with the oldest returning to an overseas teaching post, leaving Mike and Marietta home alone for the first time in many years. When I pulled these two aside for a few pictures of just them, however, it became obvious that they are looking forward to time spent together. And after 30 years of marriage, that's quite the achievement. I'm so thankful that I now know all 5 of these wonderful people!
