We Bought a House! | Personal

Sometimes when big things are happening in my life I like to bring you all along for the journey...and sometimes it feels so big and scary and unreal that I forget to mention it until it's all said and done. This latest announcement feels like the latter, and I can't believe I am working on this from our new home! So how did we even get here? There's a story for that...

Nathan and I bought a condo when we were first married - in fact, the closing happened only a few days after my college graduation. I had not yet turned 20 and I was signing a 30-year mortgage, which was (and is!) absolutely terrifying. We lived in that house for 5 years before selling it and while I won't go into details on here (ask me in person!) we were very badly burned in the process. While I would not recommend that for most people we made it work, and I know that is one of the reasons we are still so close to each other. Getting married and moving to a new city was a dramatic life change for me, but one of the biggest changes was buying a condo...

The moving process is hard, y'all! But since most of you had no idea this even happened, let me back up and tell you the whole story.

In August of 2014 Nathan and I put our house on the market. I can't believe it's been that long, but it truly has. We had a number of reasons for wanting to sell, none of which had to do with the house - we truly loved where we lived and enjoyed how nice it was (especially for a first home). But we knew it was time to move on so we crossed our fingers, said some prayers, and put it up on the market...
