Albemarle Estate Anniversary Session | Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Brad + Lauren

Maybe I'm getting old, but time seems to move faster and faster each year. It's hard to believe that Brad and Lauren got married over one year ago, and two years before that we met for the first time to capture their engagement session. When they contacted me a few months in advance (because she is a planner, through and through!) about an anniversary session at the same place it all began, I was thrilled.

Here's a little sneak peek, though, into what makes this couple so special. Rather than simply asking me to drive to Charlottesville for their pictures, they added on a special lunch at the amazing C&O Restaurant, inviting all their wedding vendors as a 'thank you' one year later. I have never heard of this before, and I was simply amazed at their generosity. It was such a fun chance to reconnect with what now feels like old friends, with Brad and Lauren at the top of that list. We all feel a little sad when the wedding day is over, so to continue that relationship (even though they live hours away!) is an incredible blessing…

Virginia Beach Lifestyle Session | Bradley + Lauren

A few weeks ago I partnered with The Historic Post Office and several other area vendors to host a fun giveaway over on Instagram, and Bradley and Lauren just so happened to be the winners! Rather than have a typical anniversary session, Lauren decided on a lifestyle feel to celebrate the fact that they just bought a house a few weeks ago.

Instead of posing and taking ring shots, Bradley and Lauren toasted with champagne behind a beautiful table provided by Graceful Designs and made chocolate chip cookies in their new kitchen, enjoying a typical evening together - minus the TV and Mario Kart :) The time was filled with Lauren's easygoing laughter and ended with snuggles on the couch in the place they now call home.

Congratulations on winning the giveaway you two, and so many congrats on this exciting time! Enjoy home ownership and many nights of baking to come!

Bennetts Creek Park Anniversary Portraits | Suffolk Couples Photographer | Matt + Chandra

Matt and Chandra are not newlyweds - they have been married for over 5 years and lived through deployments, international travel, and moving around through their stints with the Coast Guard during this time. Even though they dated for two years they were only engaged for a few months when they realized they needed to either say I do or be separated for a long time! Chandra went dress shopping with her mom and started planning a wedding until it became clear that they wouldn't have enough time - so a courthouse wedding happened instead!

Five years later, Chandra finally wore her wedding dress for the very first time. Matt dressed in a navy blue suit and even though they had already said yes to each other, they finally got to live out in a small way the wedding they never had. Yet behind the smiles and the beautiful clothes is a couple who knows what marriage means and would choose forever with each other over and over again...
