Leaning Into Difficulty | Monday Musings

Leaning Into Difficulty | Monday Musings

This fall, we started to host a Bible study in our house on Tuesday nights. It is a joy and blessing to pack out (quite literally!) our entire living room and dining room space with people who love each other and love God. We have been studying the book of Exodus which, if you know anything about it, involves the story of how the Israelites escaped from slavery in Egypt. It’s an incredible story but if you don’t know the ending, the beginning of the book seems pretty dismal and a little hopeless - a lot things get worse before they start getting better.

One of the questions posed to us last week was, “How do you respond when life gets difficult?” I didn’t answer out loud at the time because I wanted the chance to really think through my answer. How do I respond? Do I get angry and doubt God, or do I take it in stride? I loved the honest answers that our group members gave, but I just wasn’t quite ready to share mine yet…

Yorktown Freight Shed Wedding | Yorktown Wedding Photographer | Grant + Kate

There’s something so refreshing and wonderful about a long, meaningful wedding ceremony. So much of the time (with my own included!) they are short, sweet, and to the point. But when the couple and their guests have time to reflect on the words spoken, when they can think about the covenant being promised, when they can take communion together…it’s a beautiful thing. The whole wedding took place on one little street in Yorktown, hopping from a quaint little bed and breakfast to the Yorktown Freight Shed for a gorgeous fall-themed ceremony. Not only did I love the bright pops of color against classic blue tablecloths, I adored the hot chocolate bar and the s’mores favors that Grant and Kate thoughtfully gave to their guests, many who had traveled from all over the country for such a special occasion…

Four Easy Ways to Become More Productive | Business

A few weeks ago my sister asked me how I am so productive and efficient during the day. I laughed at that thought, because I often feel like I’m running around with constant interruptions. My days look so different from each other, and working right now is the hardest it has ever been. There are a lot of factors beyond my control that add some disorder and difficulty to my life as far as being productive is concerned.

But then I realized that maybe, just maybe, this is one of my strong suits. As chaotic as I feel inside, I know my business has remained strong and most people probably have not noticed much of a difference. Weddings are still getting delivered. Family sessions are still getting scheduled. Blogs are still written (case in point!). So I began to think about how exactly I can accomplish this in the midst of life upheavals. I came up with a few pointers…
