First Post Brownie-Oreo-Cookie Mania!

To be honest, I've been thinking about what to say in my first post for week. I feel like if I don't get it just right, if I don't start out on the right foot or with the right pictures, then I'll somehow lose those who may otherwise be interested. But weeks later, I have no genius ideas or witty comments, so I may as well write this anyways.

My name is Maria and I'm from Virginia. I have always dreamed of being a photographer, and since a very young age I've pretended like I can be artsy in at least one aspect of my life. I think I still do that, but lately I've been a little more proud of the results than with my first 5-megapixel camera that I've long since given away. I'm in the middle of a professional photography course from the New York Institute of Photography. I'm loving every minute of it-I'm learning so much, and all at my own pace. I still get nervous every time I turn in a photo project assignment, but otherwise it's going well.

I haven't fully decided what kind of photography I most want to do, but I most enjoy food photography. I love cooking anyways, so it's just icing on the cake that I can take pretty pictures before, during, and after the process. It also gives me an excuse to make ridiculously decadent desserts and other food I normally wouldn't even try. I've also gotten into wedding and engagement photography, and I love that, too. So we'll see what I end up with.

I hope to post every 1-2 weeks, which will force me to take a ton of pictures so I can put the best ones up on here. I'm always open to suggestions! Here's a few from the last round of baking. I made my own version of this ridiculous treat, but instead of her brownies I used the classic Baker's One Bowl Brownies (without nuts, of course) and used a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe as well. The result was incredible. I brought them in for a coworker's birthday, and they disappeared pretty quickly. The only real dilemma with these is whether you like them better hot or cold. I might need to make a few more batches before I can answer that question.....................
